Elizabeth James serves as the Director of Operations at The Psychological Foundry for Human Development Initiative (PFI). As a licensed clinical psychologist, she currently works with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Brussels on its mission in Nigeria, providing medical and psychological support to malnourished children and their families.
Elizabeth earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Trinity University of Asia in the Philippines, where she actively participated in community outreach and advocacy. She later completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ibadan, including a clinical internship at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
Her research interests cover the intersection of chronic illnesses and psychological well-being, with her current focus on how chronic conditions influence the development and progression of personality disorders. She also holds a keen interest in the relationship between food and psychology, an area she hopes to explore further in the future. Beyond research, Elizabeth is deeply dedicated to advocacy, especially in training, education, and mentorship for individuals affected by stigmatised health conditions. She works to raise broader awareness and understanding of psychology as a field.
Throughout her career, Elizabeth has held leadership and service roles that demonstrate her commitment to teaching, guiding, and empowering psychology students. In line with PFI’s vision, she continues to shape and inspire the next generation of mental health professionals. Elizabeth has also valued communities such as Everything Psych NG, where she has both learned from and contributed to discussions. She is eager to give back by raising awareness of mental health and expanding its accessibility to broader audiences. She can be reached at elizabeth@psychfoundry.org
