Nerat Rapp is a Psychology graduate who currently volunteers with the Psychological Foundry for Human Development Initiative. She is passionate about learning, growth, and using psychological knowledge to understand people and support community development. In her role at the Foundry, she leads team activities, supports programme tasks, and supports projects aligned with PFI’s vision of nurturing well-prepared and capable psychological professionals.
Nerat completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology at the University of Jos, where she developed an interest in human behaviour, mental health, and the practical applications of psychological science. During her time as a student and following graduation, she actively engaged in tutoring and went on to teach at the Chaplaincy College of Health and Science Technology, Plateau State. She continues to build her skills through personal study and hands-on volunteer work. She has participated in data collection, transcription, research workshops, paper presentations, conferences, and the effective facilitation of research webinars. She has also collaborated with global researchers on a project focused on postpartum depression. Her research project examining the relationship between personality traits and problematic mobile phone use has been accepted for publication in the Benue Journal of Social Sciences.
At PFI, Nerat leads her team through organisation, coordination, and learner engagement. She enjoys working in a collaborative environment where she can contribute to meaningful tasks and learn new skills. Her interests include psychological research, teaching, clinical psychology, mental health awareness, and the impact psychology has on community wellbeing. She is committed to improving her competence and exploring opportunities to develop as a young professional.
Outside her work, Nerat enjoys reading, learning, and connecting with people. She values honesty, curiosity, and service, and believes that every step taken in learning brings her closer to becoming the kind of psychologist who can make a positive impact. She hosts the Psych and Poetry with Rapp podcast on YouTube, which serves as a medium for community engagement, education, and advocacy in mental health. Her journey is shaped by a strong desire to grow, give back, and contribute meaningfully to the communities and people around her.
