Ganiu Anifowoshe is the External Programmes and Community Engagement Lead at the Psychological Foundry for Human Development Initiative (PFI), where he leads the design and delivery of programmes that connect psychological knowledge with real community needs. In this role, he works to ensure that psychology is not only taught and discussed but actively translated into outreach, education, and support initiatives that reach young people and underserved populations.
He is a Psychology graduate of the University of Lagos, with a strong research interest in how trauma shapes cognition, emotion, and behaviour, and how individuals and communities adapt and heal. Ganiu currently works as a Research Assistant at Lagos MiND, where he co-leads the Young Adult Mental Health Research Project. His responsibilities include overseeing data-collection protocols, conducting quantitative analyses in R, and contributing to evidence to inform youth-focused mental health interventions.
Alongside his research, Ganiu has developed strong clinical and community experience. He has served as a psychology intern at 360 Psyche and completed his clinical practicum at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Ogun State. He has also provided counselling support through the Psychebabble Foundation and led community-based mental health initiatives, offering psychological first aid and supporting awareness programmes for students and vulnerable groups. These experiences reflect his commitment to a grounded, accessible, and responsive mental health practice.
As a member of the Nigerian Psychological Association, Ganiu is intentional about building a career that integrates research, clinical insight, and community engagement. Beyond his professional life, he enjoys African literature, tailoring, particularly menswear, and has a keen appreciation for personal style. A devoted coffee enthusiast, he also has a soft spot for animated films. At PFI, Ganiu brings curiosity, rigour, and humanity to his work, driven by a belief that meaningful psychological impact begins where science meets community.
