David Jack is the co-founder of The Psychological Foundry for Human Development Initiative (PFI) and the Treasurer of the Board of Trustees. He is pursuing a PhD in Developmental Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where his research examines social media use and adolescent development from cross-cultural perspectives, especially focusing on adolescents in low- and middle-income countries.
David obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Jos, Nigeria. After completing his undergraduate studies, he worked as a Research Assistant with the Culture and Mental Health Research Group at Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom, gaining valuable cross-cultural research experience. He then earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, where he enhanced his clinical and academic skills. As part of his training, he completed his clinical internship at University College Hospital, Ibadan, working with diverse patient populations and honing his skills in psychological assessment, therapy, and intervention.
David possesses extensive research experience and has published widely, including numerous first-author papers. His work demonstrates a strong commitment to bridging developmental psychology, clinical practice, and cultural contexts. His dual expertise in research and clinical practice enables him to analyse psychological issues from both theoretical and practical perspectives, thereby enhancing his contributions to academia and professional practice alike.
Beyond his academic and clinical pursuits, David has taken on various roles, where he has actively mentored students and young professionals. His passion for psychology is evident in his dedication to advancing the field, promoting evidence-based practice, and creating opportunities for others to develop. Through his work with PFI, David continues to champion innovative approaches to psychological research, training, and advocacy, ensuring that mental health knowledge and practice remain accessible and impactful.
